Gujarat-origin asset manager nominated to Singapore Parliament

Parekh is the chairman of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and also serves as a Council Member of the Singapore Business Federation. He is also partner and head of Asia, Australia and New Zealand at Tikehau Capital, an alternative asset manager, and is also the CEO of Pegasus Asia, a special-purpose acquisition company listed on the Singapore Exchange.
“Nimil’s nomination to the Parliament of Singapore is a proud moment for all of us. His extensive knowledge and experience in the finance industry and economy will add a lot of value to Singapore’s Parliament,” said Neil’s elder brother Sunil Parekh, a corporate advisor.

Parekh has also contributed to Elevandi, a platform established by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, to facilitate dialogue between the public and private sectors in advancing fintech within the digital economy.

He is also a member of the Advisory Council of James Cook University (Singapore) and has initiated programmes aimed at increasing financial literacy in Singapore. Parekh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Honours), a Master’s degree in Commerce, and an MBA from Northeastern University.

Nine nominated MPs are appointed for a term of two-and-a-half years by the Singapore president on the recommendation of a Special Select Committee of Parliament chaired by the Speaker. Nominated MPs contribute independent and non-partisan views in Parliament and are usually distinguished people who have excelled in arts, literature, business and public service, among other fields.
