In a major decision concerning holders of unused plots under the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), the state government announced on Sunday it will refund the amount up to a maximum limit of 75 per cent of the allotment price and the current allotment price in case of voluntary reassignment of such land.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has decided to adopt a more liberal policy by taking back the unused open plots in different GIDCs of the state so that they can be reused by setting up industries, stated a government release.
The Gujarat Government claimed that as a result of this decision, approximately 1,800 hectare of unused land in different GIDCs across the state will become available for setting up industries. Not only this, along with economic development, job creation will also accelerate, it added.
Industrialists are allotted land on lease in state GIDCs for setting up industries. A mechanism is currently in place whereby such plot holders can voluntarily surrender the plots to GIDC if they are not able to use them.
In cases of voluntary reassignment of such plots, the holder gets back a very small amount as compared to the existing allotment value of the plot. In these circumstances, plot holders do not voluntarily surrender the plot and the land remains unused.
Thus, CM Patel has now decided to adopt a liberal policy to bring about a positive solution to this situation, the release added. A refund will be provided to the holders in case of voluntary return of unused open plots.
