Group promoted by Metro chief to launch English news channel

Gujarat-based Neesa Group will launch a national English news and infotainment channel that will have its headquarters at New Delhi. This group is promoted by former IAS officer Sanjay Gupta,who is the chairman of Ahmedabad Metro and a close confidant of CM Narendra Modi. The launch of this TV channel follows the unveiling of Jano Duniya,a 24-hour digital news channel in Hindi that was launched by the company earlier this year and is based at Ahmedabad. The preparation for the channel is on in full swing. The launch is expected to be accomplished in two months, stated an official release from the Rs 2,000 crore Group. Gupta is the promoter and chairman of Neesa Group that operates 16 companies in hospitality,agri-tech,food processing,real estate,education,IT,infrastructure,health,energy,biotechnology and security solutions. A civil engineer from IIT-Roorkee,Gupta joined the IAS in 1985 and quit in 2002. In April,2011,Modi appointed him as the chairman of MEGA (Metro Express between Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad).
