Two persons were killed when a bridge being constructed over a creek under a state government highway development project collapsed near Dwarka in the district Tuesday,a senior official said. The bodies of Gafur Patelia (40) and his wife Kakibai (35),both residents of Mithapur town of the district,have been pulled out from the rubble,police said. According to an official,prima facie the mishap occurred as the land supporting the foundation of the bridge washed away due to inflow of rain water in the creek. Work on the bridge was 60 per cent complete when it crumbled.
27-year-old man commits suicide
A 27-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a hook of ceiling fan in his house in Ahmedabad Tuesday.
The victim,identified as Vishal Patel,was a resident of Maninagar area of the city. He was staying with his parents and desperately looking for a job.
He had undergone a depression because of not getting a job and took the extreme step,police said. Police sent the body for a post mortem and registered a case of accidental death and begun further probe.
Mass suicide attempt: Court rejects bail plea
Rajkot: A local court Tuesday rejected bail application of four accused in the case of mass suicide bid by a Nepalese family in the city. The four accused,Lalit Parekh,Haresh Vaja,Rajesh Dholakia and Dushyant Tank had moved the bail application in the district and sessions court in the city after a directive from the Gujarat High Court.
