Blackout timings finalised in eastern, western and central Gujarat: Check for your district

The timings for when black out (lights out) will occur as part of the civil defence mock drill to be conducted on the evening of May 7 have finally been decided by the Gujarat government.

While the mock drills and their blackout components will be held in 18 districts of the state, the government had, on Tuesday, set a one hour block between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm as the tentative time for the blackout on Wednesday.

On Wednesday evening, just about an hour before the mock drills are set to begin, the final timings for the blackouts have been decided and put into three tranches.

A senior collectorate official in Ahmedabad said that the blackout period had been distributed in order to lessen the load on the power grid. The eastern areas of the state will observe blackouts between 7.30 and 8 pm. These include:

The western areas, which include the seaboard region of Gujarat, will observe it between 8 pm and 8.30 pm. These districts include:

  1. Jamnagar
  2. Kachchh
  3. Dwarka
  4. Gir-Somnath
  5. Morbi

The central areas of the state participating in the mock drill will have their blackout between 8.30 pm and 9 pm. These include:

  1. Ahmedabad
  2. Gandhinagar
  3. Banaskantha
  4. Patan
  5. Mehsana
  6. Bhavnagar
