The Ahmedabad Traffic Police on Thursday booked the driver of an Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) garbage collection van after the vehicle allegedly collided with several two-wheelers, leading to a 51-year-old man’s death.
The incident took place in Jamalpur area of the city, said police.
Identifying the accused as Rahul Haresh Parmar, who is in his twenties, the police said that he did not have a driving license and was allegedly driving the van “negligently”.
According to the police, the accused who hit several vehicles, was driving “at a high speed”.
The victim, identified as Yasin Yusuf Barafwala, was grievously injured and died on the spot, said the police.
At least three people were injured during the incident, said the police, adding they sustained minor bruises. The E Division Traffic police booked Parmar on the basis of a complaint filed by the deceased’s son Faizan. The accused has been booked under BNS Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 125(a) (endangering human life or personal safety), 125(b) (rash or negligent act), 281 (rash driving), 324(2) (mischief), as well as the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
