Adani Gas Limited (AGL) on Wednesday raised CNG prices in Ahmedabad and Vadodara by Rs 2 per kilogram. Price rise due to depreciation of the Indian Rupee against the US dollar and the upward revision in prices of imported LNG have been cited as the reasons for the hike by the company. The retail price of CNG has been revised to Rs 65.80 per kg and will be effective from June 20,stated the company in a statement.
In absence of allocation of Administered Price Mechanism (APM) gas by Government of India to Ahmedabad,Adani Gas has to depend on expensive R-LNG supplies to fulfill the growing demand by CNG users, it stated.
AGL currently supplies gas to over 1.83 lakh domestic,700 industrial and 1,300 commercial customers in Ahmedabad. It also supplies CNG to two lakh vehicles through 55 stations in Ahmedabad and Vadodara.
A day ago,GSPC Gas Company,a subsidiary of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, effected a similar hike in CNG prices and raised it to Rs 62.15 per kilogram and also increased piped cooking gas by Rs 4 per standard cubic metre. The company had also blamed the Central government for the lack of allocation of cheaper domestic gas.
