3,360 kg of ‘adulterated’ cumin seized from Mehsana godown

A government press note said the raid was conducted based on a tip-off received by the authority.

Gujarat State Food and Drug Control Authority (FDCA) seized about 3,360 kg of cumin worth R 5 lakh claimed to be adulterated, from a godown in Mehsana’s Unjha during a raid on Sunday.

A government press note said the raid was conducted based on a tip-off received by the authority.

HG Koshia, the Food and Drug Control Commissioner, said that a sample of the seized quantity of cumin was sent to the laboratory of the food department, and legal action would be taken once the report was received.

“About 3,360 kg of adulterated cumin worth Rs 5 lakh was seized from Mangalmurti godown on Dasaj road in Unjha from one Jai Dashrathbhai Patel. Forty-eight sacks of this cumin of the said quantity were seized,” Koshia added.
