Deepawali 2025 NSE, BSE Holiday List: Traders and investors, attention please! Many of you may be wondering if the NSE and BSE are closed on Tuesday. Here, we clarify. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed on Tuesday, October 21, on account of Diwali Laxmi Puja, as well as on Wednesday, October 22, for Balipratipada.
The holidays are applicable across India’s equity, equity derivatives, and securities lending (SLB) sectors.
The commodity derivatives segment of the NSE will also remain closed on October 21, 2025.
The only stock market activity, the Muhurat Trading 2025, symbolising the start of a new Hindu financial year, will be conducted on October 21 (Tuesday) for an hour between 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm. This will be a deviation from the traditional late evening timing.

On Friday, India’s equity benchmarks reversed early losses, pushing Nifty 50 to a one-year high, as gains in Reliance Industries ahead of its results outweighed losses in Infosys and Wipro, which fell on margin concerns despite robust earnings, news agency PTI reported.
The Nifty 50 rose 0.42% to 25,693.3, highest since October 1, 2024 while the BSE Sensex added 0.50% to 83,887.58 as of 10:36 am (IST). Both the indexes fell about 0.2% at open, as per the report.
