Five of the Indian companies involved in the housing loan racket borrowed Rs 1,000 crore by bribing bank officials,news agencies reported on Thursday quoting two private TV channels. The companies used the money to invest in stock markets,said the report,quoting unnamed sources.
LIC chairman TS Vijayan said on Thursday that LIC Housing Finances outstanding loans to alleged beneficiary companies were Rs 380 crore. However,finance ministry officials said they were yet to get the details on amount involved in the housing loan scandal.
