Longest ‘Blood Moon’ Total Lunar Eclipse Since 2022 Lights Up the Night Around The World

Stargazers across Asia, Europe, and Africa witnessed a rare “Blood Moon” Sunday night, the longest total lunar eclipse since 2022 and the first visible across all of India since 2018. When the Sun, Earth, and Moon align, Earth’s shadow turns the Moon a deep red as sunlight scatters through the atmosphere. Blue light disperses more easily than red, giving the Moon its eerie coppery hue. This second lunar eclipse of 2025 lasted 82 minutes in totality, offering a spectacular view of Earth’s shadow gliding across its satellite in a breathtaking celestial show.
