Sanjay Singh was preparing to hold a press conference and protest against the detention of AAP’s lone MLA, Mehraj Malik, under the Public Safety Act. The situation escalated when former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah arrived but was not allowed to meet Singh. Videos showed Singh climbing the gates, accusing the administration of muzzling democracy and questioning why even elected MPs were being prevented from speaking out.
