Micromax announced 15 smartphones at an event in Gurgaon today, including two new flagships - Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro. The company also launched two 4G-enabled 7-inch tablets and 50-inch, 40-inch and 32-inch LED TVs. The Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro are priced at Rs 13,999. The Canvas 6 Pro is now available for pre-orders on the company's website. Rahul Sharma, Micromax co-founder in an interview with Indianexpress.com had said that the company wants to become the biggest services company in India in the next couple of years. The company also made a couple of announcements on the same lines in the event.
Micromax, with the launch of Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro is targeting the mid-budget premium segment in India. Micromax Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro come with a lot of similar features except for a few. The smartphones feature a 5.5-inch FHD display.
Micromax Canvas 6 features all metal uni-body and a fingerprint scanner. Canvas 6 is the first Micromax phone to feature a fingerprint sensor. Canvas 6 Pro has a plastic body.
The smartphones are powered by Mediatek Helio X10 Tru Octacore processor. While Micromax Canvas 6 is clocked at 1.3 GHz, the processor in Canvas 6 Pro is clocked at 2 GHz.
Micromax Canvas 6 will come with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The Canvas 6 Pro, on the other hand has 4 GB RAM and 16 GB ROM.
Both Micromax Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro sport 13 megapixel rear camera. The front shooter in Canvas 6 is eight megapixel and that in Canvas 6 Pro is five megapixel.
Micromax Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro are backed by a 3,000 mAh battery.
The smartphones are 4G-enabled.
