This is THE red carpet of all red carpet events for celebrities around the world. Though always in the spotlight and under pressure to look their best, the Oscars red carpet is the one that is everyone’s prime focus. Which is why a gaffe here is one that is very difficult to live down. Now, as much as Oscars 2018 gave us Nicole Kidman in a mind-blowing Armani Prive gown and Jennifer Garner royal blue Atelier Versace gown, it also gave us Salma Hayek in purple candy sparkle and Viola Davis in a pink faux pas. Here are those who missed the fashion memo for the 90th Academy Awards. (Source: AP, Reuters)
We LOVE the colour pink, but Viola Davis' choice of this Michael Kors dress was way off the mark. The silhouette didn't complement her figure at all and that hairdo didn't help much either. (Source: AP)
Salma Hayek's custom sequinned and sparkly Gucci number in Pantone's colour of the year was a bizarre choice. It was like a 1960s' Sweet Sixteen delayed. The diamond cage would have been great for a royal welcome, but was a bit much for even the Oscars red carpet. (Source: Reuters)
Actress Blanca Blanco's red and white seemingly political (but not really) number by designer Atria Couture was just way too much flesh flashing, and everything from the plunging neckline and thigh-high slit just did not work. (Source: Reuters)
We don't quite know what was going through Olympic skiing star Lindsey Vonn's mind when she chose this gothic black lace dress, with weird cut-outs at the knee and a tasselled hem. Every bit yikes! (Source: AP)
There is so much... missing in singer St Vincent's outfit from Saint Laurent that we're not quite sure if she left half of it off on purpose. The Batman-inspired hemline notwithstanding, that massive sleeve that could work as storage is really hard to make sense of. (Source: AP)
Figure skater Adam Rippon wore a black leather harness under his Moschino tuxedo and started quite a conversation on social media. And that was no ordinary jacket either - check out the cold shoulders. Now, lingerie-inspired gowns have become quite common on the red carpet, but this BDSM-inspired tuxedo and harness is just something else. (Source: AP)
Whoopi Goldberg was a riot of colours in a custom Christian Siriano off-shoulder floral gown, and we can't help but grudgingly put her in the worst-dressed list no matter how much we love her. Apparently, Siriano designed the volumnious gown in such a way that it would hide her combat boots! (Source: AP)
