Bringing to an end the 12-year-old trial against actor Salman Khan, Judge D W Deshpande on Wednesday sentenced the actor to five years in jail. The judge told Salman that he was intoxicated when he was driving and all charges against him have been proven. The court will now order him to be taken into custody and sent to the nearby jail ( in this case the Arthur Road jail) until the Maharashtra Prisons authorities decide on which jail Khan should be lodged in. A Mumbai court today convicted actor Salman Khan in the 2002 hit-and-run case. Pronouncing the judgment, the court said he was driving the car and all charges against him have been proven. A rumoured Rs 200 crore is riding on him in Bollywood, with such projects as Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in various stages of production. Salman’s brand endorsements are worth about Rs 200 crore. Though known to have an extremely large heart and a huge fan following, Salman Khan has also made headlines for the wrong reasons.
