Trump says he’d ‘like to be Pope’ — with AI, White House shows how the US President would look

Trump’s remark earlier this week, on the heels of Pope Francis’ death, took the internet by a storm as he jokingly expressed interest in leading the Roman Catholic Church. “I’d like to be Pope. That would be my number one choice,” he said in his characteristic bravado, on being asked about who should be leading the Roman Catholic Church next.

The Vatican’s process to select Pope Francis’ successor is underway, with cardinals set to begin the conclave on May 7.

“I must say, we have a cardinal that happens to be out of a place called New York who’s very good, so we’ll see what happens,” he added.

Trump attended Pope Francis’ funeral on April 26 at St. Peter’s Square in Rome. He was present with First Lady Melania Trump and said he was attending the  funeral “out of respect” for the pope.

The US President had often sparred publicly with the late pontiff on a number of key issues, but described Francis as a “good man” who “worked hard”, and “loved the world”.

He ordered US flags to be flown at half-mast in the Pope’s honour. “He loved the world, and he especially loved people that were having a hard time — and that’s good with me.”
