Myanmar's junta chief, Min Aung Hlaing, has made a rare appeal for global assistance in response to the devastating earthquake that struck the country, killing at least 144 people and injuring over 730.
In a televised address, Min Aung Hlaing invited "any country, any organisation, or anyone in Myanmar to come and help," adding that he had "opened all ways for foreign aid". The US, EU, Asean, and China have pledged support, marking a significant development in the country's response to the crisis.
