Ohio Senator JD Vance, who is the vice presidential candidate for the Republican Party, has criticised Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden’s administration for their handling of US troops withdrawal from Afghanistan.
In an interaction with reporters at Arlington National Cemetery, Vance said that Harris can “go to hell” when he was asked about the US’ withdrawal from Afghanistan’s territory.
Republican candidate Donald Trump’s running mate, Vance said “Three years ago, 13 brave, innocent Americans died, and they died because Kamala Harris refused to do her job, and there hasn’t been a single investigation or a single firing,” as reported by CBS News.
Former President Trump visited the Arlington National Cemetery during his campaign trail and went to Section 60, where veterans of the post-9/11 conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan are laid to rest.
Trump was accompanied by the family members of the service members who were killed during the 2021 attack at Abbey Gate at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan.
Calling Harris disgraceful, Vance said, “Sometimes mistakes happen — that’s just the nature of government, the nature of military service. But to have those 13 Americans lose their lives and not fire a single person is disgraceful. Kamala Harris is disgraceful.”
Vance took potshots at the Democratic Party’s candidate and accused her of being asleep during investigations.
He said, “it’s that Kamala Harris is so asleep at the wheel that she won’t even do an investigation into what happened, and she wants to yell at Donald Trump because he showed up. She can, she can go to hell,” as quoted by NBC News.
With less than 70 days until the US presidential election, the fight between the two parties is expected to become more murkier.
