US President-elect Donald Trump has rubbished reports by media organisation CNN that he would be involved in the reality TV show ‘The Apprentice’ during his presidency, calling it ‘fake news’. “Reports by CNN that I will be working on The Apprentice during my Presidency, even part time, are rediculous & untrue – FAKE NEWS!” Donald Trump tweeted. Trump further said he had nothing to do with the show, only the fact that he had conceived the idea for the reality TV show with Mark B, and he will ”devote Zero Time” to the show during his Presidency.

Trumps tweets come after news reports about him surfaced saying that the president-elect has retained a producer’s stake in the show. On Thursday, a spokesperson for “Apprentice” creator Mark Burnett confirmed that Trump remains an executive producer on the latest edition of the long-running “Apprentice” franchise. However, the extent of his involvement with “Apprentice” is unclear, including how much he earns from it. The show last aired in 2015, with Trump starring in it.

Trump’s spokesperson Kellyanne Conway had told the CNN on Friday that his ties to the reality show are being reviewed by experts looking into the president-elect’s business ties. “Presidents have a right to do things in their spare time, in their leisure time, and nobody objects to that,” she said.

Even Hollywood star at the reality TV show, Arnold Schwarzenegger, had made a statement in the media, about Trump’s involvement in the show, saying it’s just business, comparable to his situation when he became California’s governor and retained a screen credit and kept earning royalties for the “Terminator” movie.
