Smart TVs take up a lot of real estate in most households. While most big-screen smart TVs offer an almost theatre-like experience from the comfort of your home, when they are not in use, they tend to collect dust. Samsung has now come up with a clever solution to this problem, where your smart TV will look good even when it’s not in use.
The latest 2024 edition of the QLED and OLED smart TVs will soon be able to generate 4K wallpapers, which will kick in when the smart TV is in ambient mode, ensuring your smart TV matches the vibrant décor of your home. Users can choose from predefined themes to get different kinds of AI wallpapers on their smart TVs, including options like “Happy Holiday” or “Party.”
“Generative Wallpaper brings a new dimension of personalization to our customers’ screens, allowing them to customize their TVs in a way that truly reflects their style,” said Cheolgi Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.
This seems like an extension of Samsung’s Frame TV, which offers select digital art to bring the television alive even when turned off. With the new AI wallpaper generator, users can rest assured that their television will look unique, filled with lively wallpapers and weather updates.
Samsung is currently rolling out this feature in markets like South Korea, North America, and Europe, while the same will be made available in the global market, including India, in 2025.
Do note that enabling this feature can consume additional power, as the display needs to be turned on at all times, especially on a smart TV with QLED compared to an OLED smart TV.
