Hungama launches on-demand movies app with 6500+ titles

Digital entertainment service Hungama will launched its on-demand movies app HungamaPlay in early August 2015. The app, available for Android, will features an interactive experience with thousands of movies from the Bollywood, Hollywood and Indian regional cinema, a release said.

The app will launch with a 6500+ strong movie library across 19 genres and 12 languages. However, the bigger play will be the addition of original content in the near future. HungamaPlay will integrate game mechanics in the User Interface of the app to increase user engagement. “With gamification consumers will earn points upon using the app and can redeem those points for digital goods and more,” the release added.

The app promises new features like ‘Adaptive Streaming’, that allows seamless support over 3G, Wifi and EDGE.

Users will be able to ‘Try and Buy’, ‘Rent’ &/or ‘Subscribe’. The ‘Try and Buy’ feature offers the first 10 minutes of a movie FREE, while ‘Rent’ allows subscribers access over seven days. On ‘subscription’ consumers can access almost the entire library to choose and Play from over 30 days.

Neeraj Roy, MD & CEO of Hungama Digital Media Entertainment, said Hungama Play aims to add a new dimension to the entertainment that the company provides to its digital consumers. “I am sure that consumers will enjoy the experience we have built into Hungama Play and the wide catalog of movies.”
