Apple’s “Awe-dropping” event is just around the corner, and the iPhone-maker’s latest products will soon be available for purchase. At its annual launch event, scheduled on Tuesday, September 9, Apple will pull back the curtains on its next-generation iPhone lineup, alongside the latest Apple Watch series, AirPods, and other accessories. The devices that Apple is expected to unveil at its event on Tuesday are listed below.
Apple is rumoured to introduce four new iPhone models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone 17 Air, which might be a new addition to the iPhone lineup. Previously, Apple offered a smaller mini model with the iPhone 12 and 13 series. It then developed a larger model, Plus, with the 14, 15 and 16 series. This year, the company is reportedly expected to be moving towards slimmer smartphones with the iPhone 17 Air.
According to rumours, the iPhone 17 Air will roughly be 5.5 mm, making it about a third thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro. But that might come with a few drawbacks, including a drop in battery life and the inclusion of only a single-rear camera. The Pro models for the year are also expected to be redesigned. The rear end of the phones is rumoured to feature a new camera island or camera bump that extends to the full-width of the backside of the device. The logo might also be relocated to feature a wireless charger.
However, these rumours are based on purportedly leaked images of the iPhone 17 Pro models and are not confirmed. The telephoto lens may go from a 12 megapixel sensor to a 48 MP one, and the CPU is likely to be upgraded to the A19 Pro.
Meanwhile, the base model of the iPhone 17 is rumoured to feature a slightly bigger screen to match the 6.3-inch screen of the iPhone 16 Pro and 17 Pro (the 6.9-inch screen of the iPhone 17 Pro Max will remain). The upgraded CPU and a ProMotion screen—first for a non-Pro iPhone—are some other upgrades one might expect.
The design of the Apple Watch Series 11 will be quite similar to that of the Apple Watch Series 10. This year’s Series 11 is unlikely to be a big change, with Apple keeping the same design, featuring a new screen that increases maximum brightness and shuffles colours. Apple’s most affordable watch, the Apple Watch SE, may get an upgrade and switch to larger screens, and it will likely be updated with a faster chip.
After a break in upgrading the Watch Ultra last year, Apple is expected to release a big upgrade this year with the Apple Watch Ultra 3. It is expected to include a bigger screen, with compatibility for 5G Redcap connectivity via a new modem, and the option to use Apple’s satellite service for text messaging and emergency calls.
After three years, Apple intends to enhance its AirPods Pro series. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims that the company has tested the inclusion of a heart rate monitor, similar to Powerbeats released earlier this year. They might also come in redesigned charging cases that are substantially smaller and include a new pairing mechanism, mirroring modifications introduced last year with the AirPods 4 series.
Apple is also reportedly developing new software capabilities that will enable AirPods to live-translate conversations. This is expected to be an extension of the AI-powered translation capabilities that come with Apple Intelligence in iOS 26 and iPadOS 26.
Other accessories that might launch over the period of this year include:
– AirTag 2: the new version is likely to make use of an updated wireless chip and location capabilities to improve accuracy and range. Devices may have an M5 chip, and a new iPad Pro is also rumoured to be in the works. Additionally, there are reports that a second front-facing camera will be installed on the portrait side.
– Vision Pro: Apple might release the first hardware update to the Vision Pro as Apple plans to swap out the M2 chip to something newer. A new version of the Apple TV set-top box may also be in the works. In order to enable future Apple Intelligence capabilities, such as the updated Siri that is expected to be released next year, it will likely have a new CPU.
In order to enable the new Siri and Apple Intelligence capabilities, Apple’s smart speaker, the HomePod mini, is also expected receive a new processor.
