And so when the game ended, barring the two departing batsmen, the rest of the Delhi team stayed in the dugout beyond the boundary. Final over now and Harshal Patel to bowl and the first ball is steered to the boundary. They need 23 from 4 balls now. Need sixes and fours in order to achieve it. Another dot by Harshal. Great bowling. A four off the next ball. Just 2 balls left and 19 runs to get. 2 runs in the next ball. All academic from here. That's it. Delhi finish with a one. RCB win by 16 runs
That's another one gone as Hazlewood gets his third. Shardul tries to hit a big one. Did not get the required connection and it's taken by Dinesh Karthik. DC 156/7 after 18.1 overs.
Harshal Patel in to bowl the 18th now and you feel that the match has probably slipped from Delhi's grasp. That's a six by Thakur. It might be too late for that though. 11 from this over. DC 156/6 after 18 overs.
Pant has now taken on Siraj and doled out the same treatment to him. A huge six to start and the next ball Siraj gets his revenge as Pant departs after trying to slash another one. Whatt a catch by Kohli. One-handed!!! DC 142/6 after 16.3 overs.
David Warner’s wicket was the game-turning moment allright and just in case anyone missed the significance, Virat Kohli reminded them with his celebrations. Warner had been trapped lbw after he failed to connect with a reverse-slog and RCB had taken the decision upstairs for the review. The bowler Wanindu Hasaranga and Dinesh Karthik were so sure but on first replay the point of impact seemed a bit iffy and slowly the Bangalore players started to disperse from the huddle. They stopped again to check the mat-lines replay on the big screen and were joyous to see the verdict fall in their offer. No one more than Kohli, of course. After an initial cry of fist pump and roar - just a warm up for him - he ran a detour, cut across the path of Warner, screaming his joy which as ever seemed tinged with anger, before he joined his team-mates. Warner, who was having a chat with the umpire about the replay, had a look at Kohli, turned to finish his conversation with the umpire and walked off. At the end of the over, as Kohli was crossing over, he had a look at himself on the big screen, roaring away.

What a way to start the innings by Shardul as he hits a 6 off the first ball of the 16th over. Pant hits another one for a four and the next one is hit for a 6!! This is insane hitting. Hasaranga getting mauled in this over. 19 off the over. DC 134/5 after 16 overs.
ANOTHER DOWN!!!! Hazlewood has turned this match right on its head. Lalit Yadav departs now as Hazlewood takes his second wicket of the over. DC 115-5 after 15 overs
GONE!!!!! First ball by Hazlewood and he snares a wicket. Not a good day for Powell as he is caught behind by Dinesh Karthik. He departs for a golden duck. DC 112/4 after 14.1 overs.
A very clever shot by Pant to start the 14th over. He just scoop paddled Hasaranga for a boundary. And he clears the boundary again. This time to fine leg. And that's out!! Pant hits one straight and Hasaranga gets a finger on it before the wickets at the non-striker's end is rattled. Marsh was out of his crease and he has to depart. DC 112/3 after 14 overs.
Siraj is brought into the attack again. Pant takes a single and the strike is back to the struggling Marsh who takes a 2. Another single and Pant is on strike now. And is that a drop? Not really. Just fell short of the RCB fielder. 5 off the over. 100 comes up for Delhi. DC 100/2 after 13 overs.
Hasaranga to bowl the 12th over and a single to start by Marsh. He isn't getting the required connection at the moment. There's a review on Warner now for LBW. Looks out and yes it is. The stumps are hitting. Huge blow for Delhi as Warner departs. DC 94/2 after 11.3 overs.
Harshal Patel to bowl the 11th over. What a huge hit!!!!! That's gone over deep mid-wicket and disappeared into the upper stands. Warner is in some form. Marsh needs to break his shackles and go for some hits like that. Anoter delightful touch to send the last ball to the boundary. DC 93/1 after 11 overs.
Shahbaz Ahmed in to bowl the 10th over. Can he break the Aussie partnership? 4 runs off the first 5 balls. Asking rate going up steadily though. Great over. Just 4 from this one. DC 79/1 after 10 overs.
Maxwell in to bowl the 9th over. And that's 50 for David Warner. Pretty good over from the Australian to the Australians. Just 5 from this over. DC 75/1 after 9 overs.
Hasaranga in to bowl the 8th over. RCB need wickets now and he is the man to do it. Warner, however, has other ideas as he smashes a six to deep mid-wicket. 8 off this over. DC 70/1 after 8 overs.
Warner makes a room and cuts it between points and covers, picking a boundary. He does it against Hazlewood. That's attacking cricket by Warner. DC are 57/1 after 6 overs.
Warner hits it straight this time against Siraj. Great shot by the left-hander. He is trying to put pressure on Siraj now. Both the batters are exploiting the powerplay to the helm. But wait!!! Shaw goes back to the pavilion. He gets caught at deep square leg. DC are 50/1 after 5 overs.
Warner starts the over with a boundary. He sweeps it this time against Shahbaz Ahmed and gets a boundary toward the fine leg region. DC are 49/0 after 4 overs.
Warner starts the over with a six-off Hazlewood. What a great way to start the over. It's a short pitch delivery and Warner capitalizes and gets a six. This is good batting by Delhi batters. Shaw edges it this time and picks another boundary for his team. DC are 30/0 after 3 overs.
Siraj bowls the second over for RCB. That's a great shot by Shaw. He times it to perfection and picks a six against Siraj. It's a good delivery by Siraj but Shaw manages to hit it out of the park. DC are 19/0 after 2 overs.
Glenn Maxwell to bowl the first over for RCB. Shaw and Warner start the proceedings for Delhi. That's huge! what a shot by Warner. He smashes it off Maxwell and gets a six. DC are 9/0 after 1 over.
A slog sweep on a bent knee to a pacer was just the start before Dinesh Karthik decided to turn more innovative in the 17th over. He tried a reverse lap off Khaleel Ahmed two balls later but it dribbled off the toe end of the bat. Next over, first ball off Mustafizur Rahman, he shuffled outside off and tried to lap it to fine-leg but it flew off the edge to third man boundary instead. Rahman slipped in a slower cutter next ball and winced as DK reverse-slapped it over short third man for a one-bounce four. Next ball was smashed through extra cover and chants of DK DK began to echo around the arena. He obliged by lifting two sixes, one of which landed on the first tier over long-off and a four as 28 runs came in that over. And when Shardul Thakur rebounded after a pulled six with an outside-off yorker., Rishabh Pant, who gathered that ball, gestured to his bowler to stay calm, stay cool (he touched his head) and even mouthed ‘cool cool’. DK was the real cool one, there though.

Last over now. Kuldeep in to bowl and a dot to start the over. A 2 to follow and Karthik back on strike again. Gets a glove on the third one and that races towards the boundary. Just a single next. Wide ball. Has to bowl that to Shahbaz again. A huge six by Shahbaz to follow. Two more wides to follow and finally a single to end the over. RCB 189/5 after 20 overs.
That's a player review for LBW by Dinesh Karthik. He was originally given out but that decision gets reversed. And the next ball is promptly dispatched for a huge six!!! A chant of DK, DK breaks out and can you blame them!! Shahbaz Ahmed ends the over with another four. This is some next level hitting. RCB 172/5 after 19 overs.
The 18th over now. Mustafizur to bowl and is hit for a four and a six in back to back balls. Karthik is in incredible form in this edition's IPL. And another four in the 3rd ball!!! That's just fizzed past the fielder for a boundary!!! Now then!!! A straight six down the ground to follow. This is classic slog over batting!!! Another one!!! This is sheer aggression from Karthik!!! Every ball has gone to the boundary so far. And the last ball is also gone for a four!!! That brings up Karthik's 50!!! Extarordinary batting. RCB 160/5 after 18 overs.
17th over starts Khaleel Ahmed is back in the attack and Karthik shows no mercy and hits him for a maximum. 12 off this over ultimately. RCB 132/5 after 17 overs.
Mustafizur Rahman back in the attack for the 16th over. Good little over as it yields just 5 runs, considering the circumstances. RCB 120/5 after 16 overs.
Khaleel Ahmed in to bowl the 15th over and is slapped for a boundary straightaway by Shahbaz. That's a flat six by Karthik to end the over. RCB 115/5 after 15 overs.
100 finally up for Bangalore in the 13th over. Kuldeep in to bowl the 14th. That's 4 back to back dots to Dinesh Karthik, including a dropped catch by Pant. Just 2 off this over. Great bowling. RCB 102/5 after 14 overs.
That's going to be taken and it is. That was an unsure shot from Maxwell and he pays for it. He is gone after a whirlwind innings as Kuldeep gets is man. RCB 92/5 after 11.2 overs.
11th over now and it'll be Thakur to bowl to the dangerous Maxwell. And that's a four to bring up his 50. Very well deserved. 9 off the over. RCB 91/4 after 11 overs.
First wicket for Axar Patel. He picks the wicket of Prabhudessai. RCB in trouble now. Shahbaz Ahmed come to bat and he hits a boundary off Axar. RCB are 79/4 after 9.5 overs.
Maxwell slogs it through deep mid-wicket and gets a maximum against Kuldeep Yadav. He follows it up with a boundary. This is facile batting from Maxwell. He slashes it on the leg side this time and gets a six. RCB are 70/3 after 9 overs.
When Lalit Yadav joined Delhi Capitals couple of years ago, he got a text from Ricky Ponting. "Hi Lalit, Ponting this side!" Yadav couldn’t believe that he was the recipient of a message from a legend. “But after that, it never felt that I am talking to a legend or sharing a dressing room with him. It felt like he’s a companion, a friend. At times, he has been harsh too, but he stays very cool,” he told Wisden India. “I’ve received a lot of nice inputs from him – last year, he told me four, five different things that have been helping me.”
Was one of the things how to fire a direct hit? He did a Ponting to take out Virat Kohli, who hadn’t gone too far down the track before changing his mind to return to the crease. But by then Yadav had rushed to his right at backward point, swooped low, and fired a sideways throw ala Ponting to leave Kohli stranded.

Not quite David Warner the fielder’s evening thus far. Two mis-fields yielded two fours as he kept diving over the ball. The first off an off drive from Faf du Plessis was admittedly not easy with Warner running to his left at mid-off but couldn’t get his lunge-stop right. Next one was pretty straightforward one. He had just talked to the bowler Khaleel Ahmed and moved to mid-off when Virat Kohli drove not too far to his right. He got there in time but tumbled over it and had a wry smile. Apart from the misfields, he has been his usual busy stuff, with frequent chats to the bowlers and pressing the captain to place him at second slip for the new batsman Glenn Maxwell. Every now and then, he keeps counting the fielders too for some reason, and has the most chats with the bowlers more than anyone else on the field. He also asks the ball to be thrown to him as early as possible so that he can shine and pass on to the bowler. Once, when Prithvi Shaw was taking his time to pass the ball on, Warner raised his arm first, then shouted out, before taking a couple of steps forward towards Shaw.

That's a huge blow for RCB as Virat Kohli returns to the pavilion. Kohli gets run-out. A bit of misunderstanding between Kohli and Maxwell and as a result Kohli departs. Brilliant fielding from Lalit Yadav. RCB are 41/3 after 6.2 overs.
Maxwell smashes it towards the covers and gets a four. It's a slower delivery from Mustafizur but Maxwell judges it easily. He ends the over with a boundary. RCB are 40/2 after 6 overs.
What a shot by Kohli. He punches it down the ground and gets a boundary against Khaleel Ahmed. RCB are going strong now, both the batters are charging well. RCB are 30/2 after 5 overs.
Axar Patel comes to bowl and Maxwell hits it from back-foot this time and gets a boundary. Good shot from Maxi, RCB need more such shots from him. RCB are 24/2 after 4 overs.
Huge blow for RCB as the skipper Faf departs. Khaleel picks his wicket. Two quick wickets for Delhi now. Faf walks down the wicket and looks to clear the point region but Axar Patel takes an easy catch. Maxwell ends the over with a four. RCB are 17/2 after 3 overs.
Shardul Thakur comes to bowl now. First ball and he takes a wicket. Anuj looks to play it on the leg side but ends up taking on his pads. Oh! wait..it's a good shot from Faf and he picks a boundary now. RCB are 12/1 after 2 overs.
Mustafizur Rahman to bowl the first over. Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat are at the crease. Faf glances this one and gets a boundary. First boundary for RCB. RCB are 5/0 after 1 over.
Faf du Plessis: The pitch looks a little bit direr than anticipated. Chennai had two quality batters, putting up a massive partnership there, not looking too much further than that. Breaking up the overs in the middle is something we spoke about and just the combination of the bowlers. It's an obvious thing when you come here, you look at the short side and the big side, that's always tactically how well or how badly you play the short and big boundaries. Tonight's going to be no different. Harshal Patel is back which is great. Very sorry about his sister passing away. It's great to have him back in the side. He's an experienced X-factor player for us. Akash Deep goes out of the side.
Rishabh Pant: We will like to bowl first. The wicket is looking on the drier side, we want to make use of it. Mitch comes in for Sarfaraz Khan. We have not decided yet, maybe he'll bat three and I'll bat four. Keep believing in the process and let's take one match at a time and give our 100%. Hopefully we can capitalise on the shorter side.
Delhi Capitals: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Rovman Powell, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Khaleel Ahmed
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Faf du Plessis(c), Anuj Rawat, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik(w), Suyash Prabhudessai, Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Siraj
Delhi win the toss and will bowl first.
Khaleel Ahmed: (Different approach this season?) Nothing is different, same attitude, same goal, same target towards my team and for myself as well. We (left-arm bowlers) usually spend good time together, some fun outside the game as well. Fizzy is also a nice guy. We all are having a good time together on the field as well as off the field. Good bounce, the ball is swinging here; in Wankhede I am expecting some swing tonight and have some benefit. My family and fans are watching me, wishing me and I am expecting some good performance tonight.
Will Maxwell be able to make this match memorable? Will he be able to make RCB win?

After kicking off their campaign with a loss to Punjab Kings, three-time runners-up RCB bounced back to defeat Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. (Read More)
