The IPL 2024 season is witnessing unprecedented hitting from teams that are pushing the team scores consistently past 200.
Sunrisers Hyderabad broke their own record for the highest IPL total with a sensational 287 for three against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 15, 2024. SRH’s total is also the second-highest T20 cricket, only behind Nepal’s 314/3 against Mongolia in 2023. In reply, RCB racked up 262 for seven in a 25-run defeat, the highest T20 score ever to end up on the losing side.
SRH previously smashed 277/3 against Mumbai Indians in a match that recorded the highest T20 aggregate and the most sixes ever in a match.
Kolkata Knight Riders later came close with a blistering 272 for seven against Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam. Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants are the only other teams to record 250-plus totals in the IPL.
RCB held the record for over 10 years, having posted 263 runs against Pune Warriors India in Bengaluru in 2013 on the back of Chris Gayle’s record 175 not out.
SRH are threatening to raise the bar with another onslaught against RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Orange Army crossed 150 runs in only the 12th over on the back of Travis Head’s 39-ball century. The onslaught continued despite Head’s dismissal with Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram leading the side past 200 in 15 overs.
