On Wednesday Royal Challengers Bengaluru with four defeat wicket loss to Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator have gone out of the tournament. The franchise since the inception of IPL in 2008 has been trophyless. Six-time IPL winner Ambati Rayudu took a dig at RCB teams and management on his X account (formerly known as Twitter).

“My heart truly goes out to all the RCB supporters who have passionately supported the team over the years. If only the management and the leaders had the team’s interests ahead of individual milestones .. RCB would have won multiple titles. Just remember how many fantastic players have been let go. Force your management to bring players who will put the team’s interests first. A great new chapter can start from the mega auction,” Rayadu wrote.

Not the first time in the season

This is not the first the 38-year-old has been critical of the franchise. “If you talk about RCB, it shows that only passion and celebration don’t win you trophies. You don’t get the IPL trophy just by reaching the playoffs.” Rayudu would say RCB’s loss to RR. To qualify for the playoffs RCB had to beat Chennai Super Kings by 18 runs in their final league game which they could do. “Don’t think you will win the trophy just by beating CSK.”

In the first half of the season, RCB could only win one of their eight games. “Look at them who bats in the pressure situations for them? Young Indian batters and Dinesh Karthik,” Rayudu would critique RCB when speaking on Star Sports. “Your big-name players who are international players who are supposed to take pressure where are they? Are all in the dressing room. This has been happening for over 16 years for this team.” Rayudu would analyze.

The 38-year-old would even go on to say, “This has been their story. When there is pressure we cannot find any big-name players all young players are coming down the order. Your big-name players go to the top of the order and eat the cream. A team like this will never win. This is the reason why they have not won IPL thus far.”
