A month after the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) announced its results for Classes 10 and 12, the board Tuesday announced it would conduct the ‘Bochor Bachao’ re-examination August-end or in the first week of September for the students who flunked their board exams. The candidates can fill up the forms for the re-examination till July 10, TBSE president Dr Bhabatosh Saha told reporters here.
The students who have secured at least 150 marks out of the five subjects in the higher secondary examination but have failed to secure pass marks in a maximum of three subjects are allowed to appear in a re-examination under the state government’s ‘Bochor Bachao’ scheme to save a year for academically weak students to pursue higher education.
Dr Saha said that four works are going on at the TBSE office at the moment related to the secondary and senior secondary examinations. These include review of answer scripts by board-appointed examiners from the exams held this year, self inspection of answer scripts by candidates, conduction of the ‘Bochor Bachao’ examination and finalising syllabus from classes 9 to 12.
“We have already notified the syllabus of classes 9, 10 and 12 on the board website. We shall upload the syllabus of class 11 in the next 1 to 2 days. We have taken the help of over a hundred school teachers and college faculty members in framing the syllabus. We had asked students to apply for a review by June 20 after we announced the board results this year. Schools were supposed to send these applications to the board within June 23,” Dr Saha said.
Students were also asked to apply for self-inspection of answer scripts by the end of June. They can self-inspect answer scripts of all subjects with a charge of Rs 250 if they want, he informed.
“While Bochor Bachao examination notification hasn’t been announced yet, we have asked students to apply within July 5-10 and the applications would need to come to the TBSE by July 17,” he said.
Meanwhile, the re-examination of answer scripts as per review pleas is almost over and the board expects to announce review results by July 15, the board chief said.
Self-inspection of answer scripts would be allowed from next week, he added.
Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) on June 5 declared the results of Class 10 and 12 board examinations with 86.02 and 83.24 pass percentages respectively.
Last year’s records showed 86 per cent pass percentage of candidates who had appeared for their Madhyamik examination and 94.46 per cent pass percentage for Class 12.
