Vodafone India has offered to pay Rs 4,000 crore for retaining premium 2G spectrum as it licences are set to expire next year in three service areas Delhi,Mumbai and Kolkata where radiowaves are proposed to be sold in the third round of auction.
Sources said the telecom player has written to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) that for extension of our licence for 20 years,along with current mix of spectrum and flat spectrum usage charge of 3 per cent AGR (adjusted gross revenue),we are willing to pay Rs 4,000 crore.
