Stir at M&M’s Igatpuri plant ends

Work at Mahindra & Mahindra’s engine and transmission plant at Igatpuri resumed on Monday with the management revoking the suspension of the two workers at the plant.

Work at Mahindra & Mahindra’s engine and transmission plant at Igatpuri resumed on Monday with the management revoking the suspension of the two workers at the plant. The tool-down strike had started on April 9 by workers demanding the reinstatement of workers suspended on disciplinary grounds.

The decision to resume work comes after the intervention of Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray,who met Pawan Goenka,president — automotive and farm equipment sectors,M&M,on Sunday. Thackeray had also met the union representatives on Friday.

M&M in a statement on said that the management has received “a personal assurance from Shiv Sena president that such instances will not be repeated in future by the workers within the plant”.
