Leader of Opposition L K Advani on Tuesday said the BJP would need to adjust to the demands of coalition parties and that there was no threat to the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in the state.
After 1973,the delimitation of constituencies was not conducted. Now with the delimitation,the constituencies have changed. Alliance parters will need to be adjusted. If there is a demand of two or three seats from the Shiv Sena,it should be done. The NDA as it stands today will remain for these elections. There is no problem, said Advani while speaking at a function organised by the Mumbai BJP unit to hand over Rs 11 crore to the party fund for the elections. Party workers collected the funds from 40,000 people across the state.
The NDAs prime ministerial candidate said the people should be educated against dynastic succession in politics and also about electoral processes. Elections should not just be seen as win or loss. Voters need to be educated about the electoral system and that dynastic succession will not be accepted. If there is merit,then it is okay, Advani said and added,People do not see politicians in good light. The ugly image of Indian politician has to be changed.
Advani also called for public funding for election processes as the election expenditure rises and breeds corruption. Public funding of elections will ensure better governance of funds and reduce corruption and it will be one of our definite policies if elected to power, said Advani.
Though the BJP had said in the wake of the 26/11 attacks that terrorism should not be made a political issue,it clearly remained the central topic. The Congress Government has failed on issues of security,farmer suicides,power crisis. The November attack was the worst of the three attacks witnessed by Mumbai. It developed a sense of insecurity with three top police officials dead. The Government has failed to answer the steps they had taken after having information about the attacks, said Advani.
