The Bangalore police have named a Congress MLA from Andhra Pradesh,Neeraja Patil Reddy,as one of the suspects in the murder of two TDP workers, who were accused of killing her husband Seshi Reddy.
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Bangalore Police, which is investigating the death of Prabhakar Reddy and his brother-in-law Lakshmikant Reddy in August this year, has named Neeraja as one of the 13 suspects.
Neeraja represents Alur constituency in Kurnool district. Her husband was the MLA of Pattikonda when he was murdered in 2005 in a case of factional rivalry.
Seshi Reddys murder was also an act of revenge, said officials. Seshi Reddy himself was an accused in the murder of Prabhakar Reddys father and grandfather in 1999.
Lakshmikant was found strangulated under the Gangamana Gudi Police Station limits on August 16 while Prabhakar was found dead in Bagalur in Bangalore North a day later. Post-mortem reports revealed they were given drinks mixed with sedatives after which they were strangulated.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Yashwanthpura sub-division) C Chandarappa said initially investigation was conducted separately as both bodies were found in different jurisdictions but when relatives of both the deceased informed them, they registered a double murder case with the CCB.
An official of Bagalur Police Station said relatives filed a complaint naming 13 suspects and Neerajas name is among them. The relatives linked the murder of the two with the murder of Neerajas husband and named the suspects. Neeraja who lives in Kurnool was not available for comment.
