Aftermath: Egypt considers disbanding Brotherhood

The Muslim Brotherhood group,founded in 1928,came to power a year ago.

Cairo: The spokesman of the Egyptian Cabinet said authorities are considering disbanding the Muslim Brotherhood group.

Spokesman Sherif Shawki Saturday said Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi assigned Ministry of Social Solidarity to study the legal possibilities of dissolving the group. He didn’t elaborate. The Muslim Brotherhood group,founded in 1928,came to power a year ago when its leader Mohammed Morsi was elected in the country’s first free presidential elections. AP

Al-Qaeda chief’s brother arrested

Cairo: Egyptian authorities have arrested the brother of al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri,a security official said Saturday.

He said Mohammed al-Zawahiri,leader of the ultra-conservative Jihadi Salafist group,was detained at Giza,the city across the Nile from Cairo. PTI
