CHENNAI, June 5: Prices of vegetables sold in the city have been very high during the past one month, and some of them even touched a new high on June 5. While a kg of tomato was sold at Rs 30 in the retail market, potatoes were sold at Rs 12 per kg. The rise in prices is attributed to a poor supply of vegetables from the neighbouring states as well as crop damages, and the situation is not expected to improve until August.
