PATIALA, July 12: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Gurcharan Singh Tohra assured full help to shopkeepers of the Lower Mall Market Association here yesterday.

He was here to attend a special kirtan darbar programme held at Gurdwara New Singh Sabha. Others who attended the programme included Satpal Jain MP, and Surjit Singh Kohli, state Minister for Printing and Stationery, Chajju Ram Sofa, member, working committee Shiromani Akali Dal, and Ram Kumar Goyal, advocate.

The assurance came from Tohra when a delegation of the market association, at a meeting arranged by Kohli, met him after the programme. The delegation presented a memorandum to Tohra regarding the Public Works Department action in the market area wherein the department had removed encroachments on the roadside to handle the traffic problem.

The association said that Tohra had assured them that he would arrange a meeting between the Deputy Commissioner and representatives of the association on the issue.
