The controversy relating to Chief Minister Ajit Jogi’s tribal status took a new turn on Thursday with the state Deputy Speaker Banwari Lal Aggarwal writing to the Chief Justice of India to set-up a special bench of the Chhattisgarh High Court for regular hearing of the case.
Earlier, Aggarwal had filed a petition in the state high court demanding a CBI probe into the the genuiness of Jogi’s tribal certificate.
In the letter sent to the chief justice of India, Aggarwal’s lawyer V.G.Tamskar said that there is a need to constitute a special bench for speedy hearing because of the chances of certain original records pertaining to Jogi’s caste status with the pendency of the case getting misplaced.
He informed that the National Commission for Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribes has scrapped Jogi’s tribal status and also asked for a Government inquiry.
