Saying that he had decided to adhere to the CEC’s appeal not to misuse the taxpayers’ money, Maharashtra CM Sushilkumar Shinde on Tuesday announced that he had called off the Rs 25 crore Maharashtra Leads campaign. The campaign was kicked off a week ago by Shinde as his government’s answer to NDA’s India Shining campaign and Rs 1.60 crore have already been spent on the campaign. ‘‘We have done our bit. Now let’s see if the Vajpayee Government at the Centre also follows the EC’s advice,’’ he said.
