CHANDIGARH, Sept 8: The Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC) has suo motu decided to treat as a case, a report appearing in “The Indian Express” titled “On the wrong side of 80’s, widows are made to fend for themselves,” dated August 30.
The commission has directed the secretary, Social Welfare Department and the director, Welfare, to furnish more details about the instances highlighted in the news item which emanated from Patiala, according to a communication received from the human rights commission today.
