Former French prime minister Michel Rocard has described former International Monetary Fund chief and a frontrunner for the socialist presidential nomination,Dominique Strauss-Kahn,as mentally ill.
Eighty one-year-old Rocard said during a television interview that it was clearly medical problems that drove Strauss-Kahn to become embroiled in repeated sex scandals.
This man quite obviously has a mental illness that makes it difficult for him to control his urges, the Telegraph quoted Rocard,as saying.
Its a shame, because he is very talented. But I no longer have any faith in his abilities, he added.
Strauss Kahn,63,was recently freed from charges of raping a New York hotel maid.
He also faces charges for the attempted rape of young French writer Tristane Banon in 2003. (
