Militants fired two grenades at a rally addressed by J-K Minister of Public Health Engineering, Flood and Irrigation, Qazi Mohammad Afzal. One grenade exploded 50 yards from the venue of the ruling PDP-sponsored rally at Chanderhama in Pattan, Baramulla district, the second grenade failed to explode.
Little known militant outfit, AL Arifeen, claimed responsibility for the attack. A personal security officer of the Minister, Mohammad Ayab, was injured in the grenade attack, police said.
