At first glance it seems the conspiracy theorists would have another field day — but that wasn’t to be. The buzz reached a crescendo when Sourav Ganguly joined Rahul Dravid at the crease. Twelve runs later what many had predicted took place: Dravid was run out.

But that’s where the story ends. Tongues may wag but this was simply a case of Dravid being unable to judge the run right. Dravid hit the ball hard to mid-on and called Ganguly for one. The ball travelled fast to Jayawardene, who hit the stumps with a direct hit.

Dravid appeared cross with himself and, on his way back to the pavilion, dropped his bat in anger. But it wasn’t directed at Ganguly.
