A week after he intervened to resolve the crisis within the BJP,RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will meet senior BJP leader L K Advani on Thursday.
Advani, who is said to be upset with the functioning of the BJP and the overbearing influence of Sangh bigwigs in the party affairs, was expected to meet Bhagwat on Wednesday. Sources close to Advani said that he was indisposed Wednesday and cancelled all his engagements, including a conference organised by Uma Bharti-led Save Ganga campaign. Though Bhagwat appeared unperturbed by the cancellation of the meeting, there was speculation that the tension in the Sangh Parivar was far from over.
The RSS chief Wednesday addressed a gathering while releasing a book on Swami Vivekananda, but avoided making political references. Instead,he talked about the relevance of Vivekanandas teachings in todays world. When asked whether he will meet Advani on Thursday,Bhagwat suggested that Sangh leaders often meet to exchange notes.
Ahead of Advanis meeting with Bhagwat,BJP president Rajnath Singh Wednesday met the RSS chief. The meeting holds significance in wake of the fact that Rajnath had assured to address Advanis grievances as a part of the truce brokered by Bhagwat. Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari also met Bhagwat at the RSS headquarters here.
The Advani-Bhagwat meeting will come close on the heels of Narendra Modis patch up bid with the BJP patriarch. The Gujarat Chief Minister met Advani on Tuesday.
