A fighting Japan averted another loss with a last second equaliser to force a 4-4 draw with Poland in a Pool A match at the men’s Olympic hockey qualifying tournament here today. In a highly entertaining match, Japan, who were down 0-2 and 2-4, came back strongly to score twice in the last nine minutes.

Poland, who had beaten Britain 2-1 yesterday, thus moved to four points while Japan did well to recover from their 1-6 loss to Spain to pick up their first point in the tournament.

SA lose: A questionable penalty corner goal sealed the fate of South Africa as they went down 1-2 to Spain in a crucial pool A game. The victory took Spain’s tally to six points from two wins while the South Africans remain without a point after two outings.
