MUMBAI, July 13: Pakistan’s record eight-time World squash champion Jansher Khan has put paid to rumours about his non-participation in the 1988 Mahindra World Open at Bangalore from November 29 to December 5.

According to a press release by promoters Procam Sports, Jansher, speaking from his home in Peshawar, affirmed that he was keen on participating in the Bangalore event. Jansher said: "After being unable to defend my title in Malaysia last year for personal reasons, I do not want to miss the opportunity to compete in Bangalore."

The former World No 1 added: "I want to win this prestigious title eleven or twelve times before retirement in order to establish such a record for my country which will be difficult for others to break."

"It will be a big day for me to win the World Open in India for Pakistan and I think it will be the greatest victory and honour for my country during my 12-year career."
