CBI has approached Interpol for freezing scam-tainted Ketan Parekh’s account at Merill Lynch Bank in Abu Dhabi. This was disclosed by the Centre in its Action Taken Report (ATR) on the findings of Joint Parliamentary Committee, which went into stock scam of 2002.

The ATR, however, said CBI was awaiting the response from Interpol on it’s request sent a few months after the multi-crore stock scam surfaced in May 2002. ‘‘India’s premier investigating agency had also registered 72 cases relating to irregularities in securities transactions’’, the ATR stated.

JPC, in its report, had said the committee was informed that the Interpol reference had been sent to Abu Dhabi to freeze Parekh’s accounts in Merill Lynch Bank, and his alleged Swiss account was also being investigated.
