The Bombay High Court has ordered the release of a paedophile Swiss couple who had served only half the term awarded to them by a city sessions court. The sessions court had convicted them of sexually exploiting minor girls.

The court of Justice A.S. Aguiar released 61-year-old William Marty and his 58-year-old wife Loscher Willie while hearing their appeal against their conviction. The sessions court had convicted the couple, charged with luring young girls and posting their nude pictures on the Internet, sentencing them with seven years of rigorous imprisonment.

The couple was caught red-handed on December 16, 2000, along with six of their victims — girls aged between eight-nine years in a room at a five-star hotel. Their modus-operandi, according to police, was simple: They would lure kids with food and toys, and would then force them to strip and indulge in pornographic acts even as the camera rolled on. These explicit pictures would then be posted on the web. They were charged under Sections 363, 367, 354, 292, and 293 of the IPC.

The couple had approached the HC pleading that if they were released after undergoing half of their term they would pay compensation of Rs 1 lakh to all six of their victims.
