BANGALORE, July 29: National champions P Gopi Chand and Aparna Popat need to be more consistent to perform well at the international level and bring more laurels to the country, according to former All England Open champion Prakash Padukone.
“Gopi Chand and Aparna need to do more. They should win the tournaments continuously,” Prakash said. The two along with a few others are being trained at BPL Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy in the city.
Agreeing that they were not consistent, he pointed out that international standards had gone up and there was more competition now. He said the two would be playing 12 international tournaments, besides several championships in the country. It was necessary to cope with the challenges at the highest level.
