PARIS, June 12: Scotland’s Jim Leighton is not the only goalkeeper in France ’98 who can barely see beyond his six-yard line without a little help. Kasey Keller also sports bottle-top glasses when he is not mending the nets for the US or Leicester City.
“I’m sure there are quite a few players who are just as short-sighted as me but are just too vain to wear their glasses,” said Keller, who discovered contact lenses at the age of 11 after a tip from another member of his baseball side. He is minus 5.25 in one eye, minus 4.75 in the other.
