Peter Mukerjea, former media baron and one of the accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, has sought a laptop or an electronic device in prison to pen an ‘autobiographical work’.
In a hand-written application submitted to the court, Mukerjea said that writing is cumbersome and therefore, he would like to use a laptop, even if it is for a specific duration every day. The CBI raised an objection, stating this could be a security threat and could set a precedent.
But Peter himself came forward and requested the court to grant him a laptop or an electronic typewriter for ‘his writing work’. Another application was also submitted by him, seeking permission to attend the wedding ceremony of his niece in Bengaluru on December 18-19.
The orders on these applications will be delivered on December 14. Judicial custody of Mukerjea, his wife Indrani and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna was extended till December 19. Arguments on framing of charges are likely to take place on that day.
Peter, Indrani, her driver Shyamvar Rai and Khanna were arrested last year for allegedly conspiring and murdering Sheena Bora, Indrani’s daughter from an earlier relationship, in April 2012.
