Sharing glimpses of jiu-jitsu (a form martial arts) from his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi Thursday hinted that there might be a ‘Bharat Dojo Yatra’ soon.
Dojo refers to a school where students undertake various forms of self-defense martial arts.
Rahul in a post on X shared a video on a lesser-known aspect of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra of practicing jiu-jitsu. “What began as a simple way to stay fit quickly evolved into a community activity, bringing together fellow yatris and young martial arts students from the towns where we stayed,” the post said.
Rahul emphasised the significance of introducing young minds to the ‘Gentle Art’—a harmonious blend of meditation, jiu-jitsu, Aikido, and non-violent conflict resolution techniques.
“We aimed to instill in them the value of transforming violence into gentleness, giving them the tools to build a more compassionate and safer society,” he shared.
“On this #NationalSportsDay, I want to share our experience with all of you, hoping to inspire some of you to take up the practice of the ‘Gentle Art’,” Rahul said.
The video, titled ‘seekhoge thoda martial, thoda gentle art’, showed Rahul, a Aikido black belt, and his trainer, Arun Sharma, a jiu-jitsu black belt, practicing martial arts throughout the 6,700+ km journey, teaching children along the way.
At the end of the post, Rahul wrote, “P.S.: Bharat Dojo Yatra is coming soon.”
The Congress leader had undertaken a march from January to March this year, spanning from Manipur to Mumbai. This followed a similar Bharat Jodo Yatra, where Rahul went from Kanniyakumari in September 2022 to Srinagar in January 2023.
