Manish Bansal, son of former Union railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, has resigned from the post of Haryana Additional Advocate General. He submitted his resignation on Monday and the same has been forwarded to the state home secretary.

“Manish has tendered his resignation. The same has been sent to the government for appropriate orders,” said a senior government official.

Recently, there’s been a controversy over Manish — a director in a number of companies — not informing the Advocate General’s office about his “business interests”. Haryana Advocate General Hawa Singh Hooda had expressed reservations over Manish not informing the AG office about his business interests. According to Bar Council rules,a lawyer is considered self employed and has to take permission or get his licence suspended to join any other profession or job.

One of active directors of IVA Healthcare and Theon Pharmaceutical,Manish holds responsibilities of operational strategies and marketing policies and plays vital role in the overall development of the organisation. Profile uploaded on Theon Pharmaceutical describes Manish as “entrepreneur with eight years of experience”.

Manish completed his law degree from Panjab University in 2003 and was appointed AAG in 2010. Though there is no written rule, generally a lawyer with a minimum 10 years of professional experience is appointed as AAG.
