Union Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar has been given one-year extension.
The decision to extend the tenure of the Cabinet Secretary appears to have been taken by the Government in order to maintain continuity and keep the momentum in the implementation of various key programmes initiated by it,sources said.
“Government has approved an extension of the tenure of the present Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar by a period of one year from June 13,2009,” a PMO release said.
The 1970 batch Kerala cadre IAS officer had assumed charge of the key post in 1997 for a two year tenure.
He had held a number of important positions in the Kerala government as well as at the Centre.
